Nice To Know Ya

Hello!! Hello Everybody!

I am so sorry I haven't written in a month or two but life has been a whirlwind, that's for sure! Time flies but here I am!

It is just about the new year and I am so ready for it. This year has been great fun but it has also been a year of big changes for me, new beginnings and uncertain futures. I don't like to share my personal life on social media and I'm not going to start now but if you know me and some of these changes, that's why I haven't posted anything. It's not that I don't love you or am ungrateful, it's just not everyone's business :o)

One change/new beginning you DO know about is I started a YouTube Channel and MAN, it's A LOT harder than it looks. You have to make sure you have the right lighting (or at least decent lighting) which means you HAVE to video tape during the day sometime to get natural light. And everyone knows natural light gets more scarce in the winter! But luckily I made my own DIY ring light so I could video whenever I wanted/could.

Then you have to actually have something to talk about!! This is probably the hardest part for me.  I want to create content people will actually watch but I obviously can't please everyone, so I have just been talking about things I enjoy or care about! All I want to do is make my audience laugh. So if you're interested, great! If not, keep watching and I'll make you laugh at some point ;) Thank you to all of those who support me and watch my videos <3 (Just posted my last one of 2016: ;)

Another thing you know about that has changed is my hair! This year I've dyed my hair colors I never thought I would.  But now, I am ready for another change. It is time to cut it off again. I'm not sure what to do yet, but one of these days, it will happen! If you have any suggestions, let me know or send me a pic! Who knows, maybe I'll cut it off myself in front of the camera... !! Would you watch that? Let me know!

Well, that's all I have time for right now so stay tuned for new beginnings and adventures in 2017! Cheers!

Election Day

Today will be crazy.  Today will be made history.  Today will be scary. Today is our right. Today we vote for the next President of the United States for the next four years.

Being a part of a Democracy is an amazing thing.  We have freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of press, freedom to bear arms, freedom to vote. We Have Freedom.

It has been a long year of debates, news articles, slander, wins, losses, facts, lies, disbelief, and awe.

One thing we must remember is there is no right or wrong. It is all opinion and we have a right to our own opinions. But it is how we express those opinions.  The way we express our opinions are what people use to create their own opinions of us. Whether they are true or false.

No matter what happens today, let's have respect for our right and freedom.  We may not all agree on who becomes the next President of the United States but it is the fact that we had a choice in it. We often take advantage of this right because we do not know any different. We haven't lived any different.

Here's to the next four years.  The next four years of love and acceptance.  The next four years of freedom and democracy.  The next four years of years to come. No matter who wins this race, we Americans will accept the outcome with respect and dignity because we are the people who had a voice and a choice. And our choices after the election will define us forevermore.

Peace, Love, and Happiness.

Halloween throughout the Years

I thought since today is Halloween, I would share with you all my costumes from the past couple of years. It's fun to look back at all of these costumes and to see what I thought may or may not have looked good on me back then.  Some were store bought and some were home-made. Let me know in the comments or on FaceBook which look you liked best! Here we go from oldest to newest:

Bad Witch

Robin Hood
Luna Lovegood -
This wasn't Halloween but could have been.
Black Cat

Thing 1 -
For the kiddos

Cinderella -
For the kiddos
Cat Woman

Polar Bear
Madonna - Hocus Pocus
Well there you have it! I'm not quite sure if I got them all or put them in the right order because I went back many many years! But you get the gist of it! I hope you all have a happy and safe Halloween!

Construction Season

UGH. It's construction season here in Michigan.

Construction is the WORST.  The last thing you want is to run into a construction zone when you're running late somewhere. And even if you aren't "late" it's still a pain in the butt to go through!

Last week, I had to run an errand which made me go down Cherry Hill for the first time in a long time.  Well of course, it was down to one lane on both sides because they were FINALLY fixing the road.  I was filled with so many different emotions: happiness, anger, thankfulness, rage, etc.  What should have been a 15 minute drive turned into a 30 minute drive.  It DOUBLED. And to top it all off, nothing is worse than being stuck behind a SEMI-TRUCK while in a construction zone.

Obviously, I didn't take that route back home and I vowed not to go down Cherry Hill until the construction was over.  I will say though, I love when construction is done because the awful roads I have been traveling on have been fixed, finally. But the process sucks.

And then there is the type of construction which is RIGHT OUTSIDE OF YOUR HOUSE. Yes. This year, we were graced with road construction on our street/subdivision. Nothing is better than waking up to crash-bang noises outside of your bedroom window in the early morning hours.  And of course it's a WEEK long process.

I would probably be more forgiving if my street was a hot mess, but this was the type of construction where they had to do something UNDER the cement in ten-foot patches all the way down the street.

Thank goodness the process is almost over but sheesh.

Let me know about your construction story nightmares! Also, don't forget I post a YouTube Video every Monday!

Happy Halloween Weekend!

Costume Making Extraordinaire

I've been MIA for a bit, sorry about that.

I have been getting ready for Halloween parties! This year I decided to make my costumes - I know...a huge feat for me but it's always so expensive and they never fit exactly right because manufacturers need to make sure millions of people can fit into the same outfits.

For the first Halloween party I went to, I went as a Polar Bear (as many of you've seen). This was a super easy costume because it was basically make-up, clothes I bought which I knew fit me, and some polar bear slippers.  It was original and super comfy!!

The next Halloween party I went to I decided to be a Mermaid.  I saw such an easy DIY mermaid costumes on Pinterest so I decided to try it! It turned out to be super easy and I amazed myself at what I created. The fabric I bought was a little pricey but no more than the polar bear slippers I bought for my previous costume so it was a win. I received a lot of compliments on this costume which made me feel great! The only downfall was climbing up and down the stairs. Yeah - it was pretty difficult but I knew going in it would be so - Challenge Accepted and Defeated!

The last Halloween costume I'm going to create is something Hocus Pocus related for my friends theme party! I have a few ideas but don't want to give anything away just yet. Once I create this last look (in only a week), my Halloween costume making will be over.

Well wish me luck!

Also, don't forget! Today marks another Monday! I am so excited to be able to post another video for you on YouTube! I hope you'll go check it out here.

Another thing I learned about YouTube is once I get 100 subscribers I can change my URL to be Brooke Ellyn instead of a bunch of letters and numbers! So hopefully I will get there eventually!

Video Posting

Hello there!

So today I thought I would take you on my journey of starting a YouTube Channel! This is what I've learned so far:

It's a lot harder than it looks!

Obviously I'm late to the YouTube game but I didn't want that to stop me.  Of course I'll never be as famous as Jenna Marbles, Grace Helbig, Tyler Oakley, or Zoella and I'm not trying to be.  I just want to do something that I love - making people laugh.  My videos are going to be random and *hopefully* somewhat funny.

But even as I started this journey, I realized there are SO many teens out there doing this with hundreds of thousands of subscribers.  Like what?! If they can do it, so can I! And some of those kids helped me figure out what the heck I am doing when it comes to adding some cool editing tricks to my videos.

I'm just going to need YOUR help to figure out what kind of videos you want to see. I want to make videos people want to watch so make sure you comment and like the ones you'd like to see more of!

So I've decided to post once every Monday.  I figured I would post on Monday's because 1) it's easy and 2) everyone hates Monday's so why not have something to laugh at on the most hated day of the week?

So here's to a great start to a Monday! Go watch my new video here.

Youtube Adventure

Hey guys!

Okay, I have been contemplating this for a LONG time now and I think I'm ready to go for it!

I want to start a Youtube Channel!

Like a really awesome, funny, people-viewing-my-videos-all-the-time, channel.

And if I am being honest, I'm SCARED!

Putting myself out there, for the WORLD to see is so intimidating. Especially when I see all of the professional Youtubers out there with their perfect lighting, hilarious topics, and looking GLAM all the time...

But I want to give it a try. That's why I started my blog, to see if people would view it and like what I have to say. I'd love to be like Lucille Ball - Glamorous AND Goofy.

If I do this, I'm not going to pretend I'm phenomenal at one specific topic - because I'm not. I don't want my channel to be about one specific thing, i.e. music, makeup, fashion, etc. I want to make funny videos people will watch and enjoy!

And I'm not going to pretend people won't judge me.  I mean, that's just what people do, unfortunately.

But I'm not going to let that stop me! That being said - I'd really like to get some ideas of what you think I should talk about in my videos. I'm open to anything! Leave a comment below or on Facebook and don't forget to follow me on this adventure!

My first video I will be posting is my DIY Polar Bear Halloween Costume in the spirit of Halloween. Enjoy!
